A panorama of the theater at Epidaurus (Ἐπίδαυρος). The theater was built in the 4th century BCE and is renowned for its excellent acoustics. The 55 rows of the theater hold up to 14,000 people, and performances are still held here today. The site was extremely well preserved due to being buried and undiscovered until the late 19th century. The first 34 rows of the auditorium are all original; the 21 upper rows were added in Roman times.
