A couple weekends ago we went to Venice, Italy. Venice consists of 18 islands separated by about 150 canals. The Grand Canal forms one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city. Public transport is provided by water buses and private water taxis. There are also gondolas, which are almost exclusively used by tourists. All three major forms of water transport can be seen in this view of the Grand Canal taken onboard a water bus, or "Vaporetto".
